Semi-truck tires aren't made for prolonged high-speed travel

Have you ever been driving along on the highway going a little faster than the speed limit and all of a sudden, you see a semi-truck speeding past you? If your answer is an emphatic "YES," this information might make you so mad that you feel like you could spit fire.

semi-trucks are only equipped to travel at certain speeds. When these big trucks travel over the maximum safe speed for prolonged periods, they can become deadly projectiles. This means that speeding truckers are taking your life and the life of anyone else around them into their own hands in a game akin to a sadistic round of Russian roulette.

Most semi-trucks aren't made to travel over 75 mph. The tires aren't rated for these speeds and the trucks and trailers aren't manufactured with safety at high speeds in mind. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notes that there isn't any semi-truck tire that has a speed rating of above 81 mph and that most semi-truck tires max out at 75 mph.

When the speed rating for a tire is exceeded, the tire can shred or blow. This means that motorists are at risk of not only just the truck and trailer smashing into them, motorists are also at risk of the flying debris from a blowout flying into their vehicle or landing in their path. These both could spell disaster.

If you are injured in an accident that involved a trucker driving at a high rate of speed, you might choose to seek compensation for the damages you suffered because of the accident. This could help you with the financial impact of the crash, but it won't take away the physical or emotional damage.
