Three people recently suffered injuries in a fiery single-car crash in California, although they would have been worse off had a good Samaritan not come to their rescue. The serious accident took place early in the morning on a Sunday. Sometimes, these types of car accidents occur due to the carelessness of the person behind the wheel, in which case, he or she may be held liable for the injuries resulting from the collision.
The recent accident took place at about 5:45 a.m. According to authorities, they received a call about a crash involving a single automobile. However, before they could arrive at the scene, a man who heard the collision was able to get all three occupants of the car out.
The man reported that a bang woke him up, at which point, he went to his home's backyard. There, he heard someone coughing in distress. When he looked beyond some trees, he noticed that a car was burning and that the engine compartment had already been engulfed in flames. The man ran to the car occupants' aid, unbuckled them and got them out of the car before the entire cab became engulfed in fire. All three parties were taken to the hospital, with one of the victims suffering issues deemed to be life threatening.
If police determine that the single-car accident was the result of the driver's negligence -- for example, the driver was texting while driving or was speeding -- the two passengers in the car have the right to file personal injury claims against the driver, seeking damages. If they are successful, they may receive monetary damages that might help them to address their hospital bills and other losses stemming from the serious accident.
