Serious accident leads to 1 death, 2 injuries

A man's life was recently cut short in a tragic motor vehicle accident in California. Now, the deceased man's surviving family members are left to question how they could have lost their loved one so soon. The serious accident took place along California's 101 Freeway and involved at least a couple of other cars.

The recent accident took place on a Tuesday at about 10:46 a.m. According to authorities, a sport utility vehicle rolled and ended up catching fire. A man, 40, who was inside the sport utility vehicle died in the crash.

Two other people suffered minor injuries in the collision and were taken to the hospital. The accident caused traffic to back up along the freeway, so paramedics and firefighters had to use the freeway's eastbound side to reach the sport utility vehicle that caught fire. Authorities said they did not immediately know what caused the collision.

An investigation into the accident by police may reveal that one of the injured parties caused the serious accident. In this situation, the loved ones of the man who died in the California crash may opt to file a wrongful death claim against this party, seeking damages. Meanwhile, if the deceased man was reportedly at the wheel in the sport utility vehicle and caused the accident, the injury victims may choose to file personal injury claims against his estate if their injuries become serious. They may also name in their lawsuits anyone else with an ownership interest in the sport utility vehicle. Liability must be established before the court hearing the case before claims for damages will be adjudicated.
