A teenage girl's life was recently snuffed out in a motor vehicle collision in California. Meanwhile, another teenager was arrested in connection with the car accident. Now, the deceased girl's family is left to grieve over her loss and to question how such a tragedy could have taken place.
The recent California car accident occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on a Monday. According to authorities, a female driver tried to turn left at a street intersection but ended up losing control of her car. As a result, the car went airborne and collided with multiple trees after going over an embankment.
Both the girl driving the car and her female passenger were thrown from the motor vehicle during the accident. They both suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital. However, the passenger died. Police said the driver was not drug or alcohol impaired at the time of the accident, and she did cooperate with authorities. However, the driver was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for allegedly driving recklessly.
The surviving loved ones of the girl who died in the crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the female driver who reportedly caused the fatal car accident. If the driver ends up being convicted on her manslaughter charge, proof of this may be presented in a related civil court proceeding in an effort to establish liability in the accident. A claim that is litigated successfully might result in a monetary award that may help with addressing funeral costs and other accident-related losses.
