Alleged DUI car accident leads to 1 death, multiple injuries

A woman lost her life and three other individuals were injured in a recent California motor vehicle collision. In addition, a man was arrested for drinking and driving in connection with the crash. The car accident took place along Highway 180 on a Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 12:45 p.m. According to authorities, a 40-year-old man was driving a sport utility vehicle and went over the median. He then crashed into a car. A passenger in the car, 47, ended up passing away in the collision.

Three other individuals, ages 58, 21 and 25, were injured in the collision and transported to a medical center. The man who was driving the sport utility vehicle was suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the accident. Authorities therefore took the man into custody.

The surviving loved ones of the woman who died in the California car accident have the option of filing a wrongful death claim against the man accused of drinking and driving. In the same manner, the injured parties may file personal injury claims against him, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. If the man facing drunk driving charges ends up with a DUI conviction, proof of this conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding with the goal of establishing liability in the accident. A claim that is fought successfully may lead to a damage award that might help with addressing medical costs, the loss of wages, burial expenses and other losses stemming from the car accident.
