Car accident claims 1 life, leads to 2 injuries

One woman has sadly lost her life in a tragic collision in California. Meanwhile, two other people suffered injuries in the car accident. The car wreck took place along Highway 18 on a recent Wednesday morning, leaving family members and friends wondering how this type of wreck could have happened.

Police said that, at about 9:45 a.m., a man, 31, was driving a car north along the highway. At the same time, a man, 80, was headed south on the highway in an SUV. Authorities said the car's driver, however, ended up losing control of his car.

According to police, the car entered the SUV's path, at which point the SUV collided with the car's right side. A female passenger who was sitting up front in the car suffered injuries in the crash and passed away at the crash scene as a result. Meanwhile, her driver suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries in the motor vehicle collision.

The surviving family members of the female passenger who died in the motor vehicle crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the car driver who reportedly caused the accident, seeking damages. Likewise, if the SUV driver ends up suffering chronic injuries as a result of the car accident, for example, he may decide to file a personal injury claim against the car driver. Liability has to be established before the civil court hearing the case, before financial damage claims will be adjudicated in California.
